Mr Ellis worked alongside Class 1 and Class 2 delivering a block of work on gymnastics. The focus was on simple travelling, balances and roles that were progressed each week and were made into simple routines. Class 2 used co-operative learning structures staying with their teams each week, with a focus on student led learning and Mr Ellis assisting. Each team had a coach, equipment manager, encourager and a scribe, who were responsible for specific jobs every week. These roles were swapped, allowing every child to experience different roles. This encouraged positive interdependence between the children as they could not be successful at the tasks in hand without their peers completing their own jobs.
There was a real development in the childrens’ maturity as the unit progressed and it was a pleasure to see their social skills flourish. Well done everybody!
