Mr Moss and Mr Doey delivered a full terms worth of OAA and team building in the fantastic grounds of Rudding Park. The surroundings provided great challenge for the children and over the course of the term, all of the children certainly developed their map reading skills, in particular being able to orientate that map and looking out for key features. The children showed great success throughout the scheme of work and all seemed to really enjoy the work. Well done to all!
Miss Kilburn started teaching rounders this half term to Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3, all the pupils and staff really enjoyed learning lots of rounders related games as well as the game of rounders and all the rules. Class 1 focused on throwing and catching games and also being able to strike the ball and score by running around the posts. Class 2 developed their rounders game more, thinking about the batting skills and fielding skills. Class 3 focused on the game of rounders and developing their knowledge of it and ensuring they know the rules. Year 5 and 6 attended an area rounders tournament and using their knew skills and knowledge they managed to make it to the area Finals. Well done to all those children involved.
Athletics was the focus for all classes this half of term with Sports day as the focus for all at the end of term. All classes worked on their sprinting techniques, there are some very talented sprinters at this school. The younger children focussed on throwing for accuracy then for distance followed by Jumping for height and jumping for distance and finished off with some relay. The older children learnt more specific events, hurdling, Long Jump, Relay baton change, Shot Putt, Javelin and Long Distance running. It was enjoyed all and we discovered some very talented Athletes from all the classes.
