At St. Mary’s in Knaresborough, teamwork and healthy competition was alive and well during our recent Intra-School Competitions! The whole school came together for an exciting house competition designed to showcasw skill development, collaboration, and a love for physical activity.
Students were divided into their house teams, with activities tailored to suit each age group. Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Early Years pupils had a fantastic time exploring the basics of ball handling and movement. From learning how to travel with the ball to developing strategies for evading others, these younger students took their first steps into the world of team sports with great enthusiasm. It was inspiring to see their determination and creativity on full display as they worked together to master these new skills.
In Key Stage 2 (KS2), the competition ramped up as Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 students showcased their rugby and teamwork abilities. The games were fast-paced but most importantly filled with team spirit! Each house cheered on their teammates, creating a supportive and encouraging environment.
After some thrilling matches, it was Luke House that emerged victorious in the Year 3/4 category, demonstrating exceptional coordination and skill. For Year 5/6, Mark House claimed the top spot with their impressive teamwork and determination. Both houses showed incredible sportsmanship, making their wins well-deserved and celebrated by all.
The event wasn’t just about winning, though. It was an opportunity for every child to participate, learn, and grow. By working together in their house teams, the students strengthened their bond and communication skills while building confidence in their abilities.
A huge thank you to all the staff and students who made the day such a success. We’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to bring the school together for more fun and skill-building activities. Well done, St. Mary’s!
