Schools Provision

At Sporting Influence, we provide a variety of teaching options for children and staff. Our aim is to ensure every learner, teacher or pupil, has a full understanding of the subject that is being delivered whilst developing their physical and social skills. We underpin all learning with our five social skills and believe that physical education acts as the perfect vehicle to develop these.

Cognitive

  • Give examples of using cooridination, control, manipulation & movement
  • Solve movement based problems & travel efficiently

Year 1/2

Cognitive

  • Describe what happens to the body during exercise
  • Name key skills in team games & individual activities
  • Create a short routine for activities such as gymnastics & dance
  • Demonstrate movement to suit a game or situation

Physical

  • Understand beat and perform a dance using basic movements
  • Able to run, jump, throw & catch in isolation
  • Develop balance, agility & cooridination & apply these to games/activities
  • Participate in team games

Social

  • Respond positively to winning and losing
  • Encourage respect & helping others
  • Communicate feelings & explain actions
  • Work in small groups, up to 4

Year 3/4

Cognitive

  • Demonstrate & understand the difference between roles in a team
  • Explain rules of games/activities
  • Explain what happens to the body before, during & after exercise
  • Define key skills & give examples of when these skills would be used in their unit of work

Physical

  • Develop more complex routines
  • Run, jump, throw and catch in isolation and combination
  • Understanding arracking and defending & when these should be applied in a game
  • Work as part of a team in outdoor activities

Social

  • Show & understand the concept of sportsmanship
  • Encourage, respect & help classmates to improve
  • Understand feelings & hopw these can influence PE performance
  • Begin to understand different aspects of teamwork

Year 5/6

Cognitive

  • Describe different safety aspects of lessons
  • Solve problems in a variety of different game scenarios
  • Describe different positions & tactics in a variety of activities
  • Comment and critique personal performance

Physical

  • Develop, perform & improve routines to music
  • Apply attacking & defending tactics to games, understand their performance & how they can adapt.
  • Perform Outdoor & Adventurous Activities individually
  • Demonstrate improvement

Social

  • Show sportsmanship across all activities & understand feelings associated with winning & losing
