Sporting Influence Foundation is an official Community Interest Company founded 2020 in Harrogate. Its aims are to:
Increase the sports participation levels of school aged children in Harrogate and the surrounding areas
Provide opportunities to young in the community to access the Physical Education and sports coaching as a vocaction
Improve mental health awareness of young people

A PE teacher for 15 years, who’s ethos is to develop social skills and behaviour of children through quality sports teaching. David’s key work includes training teachers as part of continuing professional development (CPD), running school competitions, interschool events and learning projects aimed at increasing Literacy and Numeracy attainment levels through sport and holiday camps.
As teacher of Physical Education in high schools for 10 years, Neil has recently been working with primary schools to improve their teaching of PE and upskill teacher’s to raise confidence in delivering high quality PE. Neil has a Masters of Education, with a key focus of his Dissertation orientating around the role that PE can play in improving all aspects of health (physical, social, emotion and environmental). In addition, Neil is a University lecturer at York St John University where he lectures in the Children and Education faculty.
Working in the finance sector, Louise is the perfect fit for the secretary role at the Sporting Influence CIC. Her keen eye for detail and scrupulous processes ensure that the day to day running of the CIC is without issue.
Role of the members: to monitor the performance of the CIC and the directors, and ensure the company continues to meet the community interest and fully involves the community in its activities and development.
Katie White is Executive Director Advocacy and Campaigns at WWF-UK (Jobshare). Two priority areas for Katie in her leadership role at WWF are tackling climate change and shifting the food system. Katie has spent her career pressing governments to face up to the challenges of climate change.
Prior to joining WWF, she co-led the campaign at Friends of the Earth for what became the 2008 Climate Change Act. She then worked for the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, preparing for the 2009 Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
Since leaving government, Katie has also been Campaigns Director at The One Campaign. She was awarded an OBE in 2013 for services to tackling climate change engagement in the UK and overseas.
Richard is the Deputy Head Teacher of Bramhope Primary School, a fantastic school based in Leeds. After many years as a teacher & Head Teacher, Richard’s keen eye and meticulous attention to detail makes him a perfect fit as a member of the CIC. As well as overseeing the work done by the CIC Richard hopes to add his expertise and knowledge to help many young people in future years.
We have a strong partnership with Leeds Trinity and provide many opportunities for all people to get involved in PE and coaching.
