Y3/4 Wednesday Evening Football is finished for another year.
2 November 2017
Unfortunately Y3/4 football is finished for another year. This year we have had five schools take part over the five weeks in some very adverse weather conditions at times. Despite the weather, a special mention must go out to all the parents, teachers and helpers, without their help in bringing the children and creating a brilliant supportive atmosphere, the competition wouldn't have been able to go ahead.
Before we start talking football I believe each and every child that has played in the tournament receive their own pat on the back for the way they have shown our five key skills:
- Body Language
- Communication
- Determination
- Encouragement
- Respect
Every child has been a pleasure to work with and has truly been a credit to their school. You should all be very proud of the children that have given their all to represent your schools.
Now onto the football!
Our competition opening week clashed with the Harrogate School Sports Partnership football tournament. This meant that we were in the sports hall and only two schools were able to attend. Bilton Grange and Grove Road both turned up and played a match broken into four quarters where we worked on tactics, positioning and teamwork. In the following weeks further schools, Richard Taylor's, Hookstone and New Park, all joined and showed some real football talent. Richard Taylor's tearing teams apart going forward. Hookstone's heroic defending, with passion and bravery. New Park, every week showing determination and pride to be playing for their school team. Bilton's communication and teamwork bringing together some amazing performances and stunning goals, and last but not least, Grove Road who's all round footballing talent and togetherness showed each week.

It really has been a pleasure watching all the children mature and develop over the five week we have spent. There is some fantastic footballing talent hiding in the children of Harrogate.
From myself, Mr Brookbanks, Mr Ellis, Mr Moss, Mr McTernan, Mr Wells and Miss Beaumont,
Thank you very much to every school, child, teacher and parent that made it possible.
Now onto Y5/6 starting next week, 8/11/17.
Mr Doey.
