Wednesday Evening Cricket Competition

20 June 2019

After some early rain the weather turned to leave a warm and bright afternoon. Five Schools turned up to compete against each other and pit their skills against other schools.

The standard of cricket was fantastic with some unbelievable shots (I imagine learnt watching the cricket World Cup). In addition to the batting, the bowling was again of high standard, at some points being too quick for a wicket keeper and back stop! By far the most impressive part of the evening was the fielding, personally I have been involved in cricket for over 20 years and I can honestly say, I have never seen a better collection of catches, dives and throwing in all that time! It is important to remember that cricket is a game built around three disciplines: batting, bowling & fielding.

After a brilliant evening we spoke to the children about their tactics and how best to approach the game. Some fantastic answers and brilliant feedback from all.

The competition isn't on next week but will conclude the week after!

Well done to all involved, a thoroughly brilliant night!
