You are all amazing! The team is growing and we are nearly at 20 people, young and old! We cannot wait to get our running trainers on and tread the paths of Temple Newsam. Some of us have even been training! Last week there was a sweat on the brow and a surge on the donations for Mr Doey's run! he is now up to £90 meaning only £10 more will take him to 10k and £60 will make him run the whole 15k! We recently attended Western Primary Schools Science Day to help the children understand more about the body and exercise. As part of the fun filled day, where the children made their own hair gel and performed other crazy experiments amongst other science related topics, Mr Crooks delivered a session on exercise and the body. Some of the questions that the children asked and the information delivered more commonly found in a GCSE PE classroom!!! How does your body change after exercise? Why do we go red?Why do we sweat?What does oxygen do in our bodies?Why does it hurt when we exercise? An all round amazing experience for the children and a fantastic day to be a part of! Thank you to all at Western who made the day happen and we look forward to your next topical day! Take a look below at what Year 6 student Sebastian Gaminde thought of the day. "On Wednesday, Mr Crooks from Sporting Influence, came into our school to help us to understand the affect of exercise on our body. During this experiment, he asked us to check our heartbeat before and after a series of exercises including: Running Lunges Burpees Relays Many more exercises. These exercises created our hearts to pump the blood faster around our body and therefore exercising our body. We felt breathless, red faced, sweaty and tired!Thank you to Sporting Influence for taking part in our science day!"

As you may well know here at Sporting Influence we love competition. Not always to win, but for children to experience competing against other children they may well not know, soak up the atmosphere as other children cheer them on and understand winning and losing in the correct environment. We have recently hosted a dance competition for Boroughbridge Primary School with our expert dance teacher Mrs Zealand. The Children's dancing was on another level, popping, dropping and rocking. This Friday (8th March) we are hosting a football tournament for all Year 3 children at Rossett Acre and Western Primary. We cannot wait to see some children, for whom this will be their first ever competitive fixture, play, compete and experience a feeling like no other! Hopefully the weather will hold off!

On Thursday 28th February there will be filming at our Activity Camp for advertising and marketing purposes. We are always extremely careful when filming, photographing at our camps or at schools and this will be no exception. As well as you choosing yes or no when signing the children up via the Sporting Influence website, we will also be double checking with all parents, grandparents, carers on drop off of the morning. We can't wait to be able to show off all the fun we have and finally allow you as parents to be able to see what goes on at camp!

When you hear the word shoe bank, you probably think of world famous boxer turned coach Chris Eubank. Here at Sporting Influence we are doing something special... We're not giving to Chris Eubank, multimillionaire boxer. Instead we are giving to the young children of Bombo - Uganda, not a penny to their name or a shoe on their feet. Our journey began when Charlie, son of Dave Moss, visited Uganda with his school. He suddenly realised that life isn't always easy or fair, there were children walking round without shoes on their feet or shirts on their backs. As part of the trip with the school, they take over any unwanted or outgrown shoes, trainers, flip flops etc. With the help of Charlie we are going to be aiding the school and asking for any unwanted, outgrown footwear to be dropped in our Shoe Bank at our Activity Camps. These will then be donated to Bombo, Uganda, where we will hopefully be able to give a child their first steps to success. Keep an eye peeled at camp and let's make a difference!!!

We've received our first Valentines Day letter.Sent in by a parent who was cleaning bedrooms! We can't describe the feeling knowing we have this effect on young peoples lives!  To the young child who sent this. We ❤️ you too!!!

On Wednesday 13th February, Sporting Influence took part in the Dance Marathon at Hookstone Chase Primary School in support of NSPCC. The day was a huge success with Mrs Wilcox ramping up a massive amount of steps! If she managed this many how many did the children reach! We would love to know some smart watch data! Challenge: Who can accumulate more steps than Mrs Wilcox during a day at our February Half Term Holiday Activity Camp!!!
