Pannal Primary Crowned Cross Country Champions at Boroughbridge High School
22nd January 2025
The atmosphere was electric at Boroughbridge High School on Wednesday as the Cross Country Final brought together four schools that had advanced from their area groups. Despite heavy underfoot conditions, the children showcased exceptional determination, tackling the challenging course with both grit and enthusiasm.
The morning saw runners from 4 North Yorkshire primary schools battling it out for the championship title. The weather provided ideal running temperatures, but the muddy terrain added an extra level of difficulty, demanding resilience and focus from all participants.
Mr Sherwood praised the children for their efforts, saying,
“The determination shown by the children today was fantastic. They didn’t let the tough conditions hold them back, and it was inspiring to see so many giving their all to complete the course.”
It was Pannal Primary School who emerged victorious, claiming the title of Cross Country Champions after a morning of fierce competition. The team’s commitment, teamwork, and dedication shone through, making their win well-deserved. A special congratulations goes to all the children from Pannal who participated, as they demonstrated remarkable effort and sportsmanship throughout the event.
The competition wasn’t just about winning, though. Every child who participated, from the early stages to the final, deserves recognition for their hard work. The season has been marked by unpredictable and challenging weather, yet the children consistently rose to the occasion, embodying the true spirit of cross country running.
Miss Matusewich extended her appreciation to all the young athletes, saying,
“A huge well done to every child who has taken part in the competition from the start. The conditions have been far from easy, but you’ve all given your best, and that’s something to be proud of.”
As the cross country season concludes, attention now turns to the upcoming Dance Festivals, set to begin next week with the Ripon 1 cluster. These events promise to be a celebration of creativity, coordination, and collaboration, providing another opportunity for children to shine.
Congratulations to Pannal Primary School and all the schools involved for making the Cross Country Final a day to remember. Your efforts have left a lasting impression, and we look forward to seeing many of you take the stage at the Dance Festivals soon.
