This year, Mr Crooks has had the pleasure of being back at Follifoot Primary School. It has been a fantastic year, with pupils showing enthusiasm, commitment, and impressive progress across a wide range of sports and physical activities.
Throughout the year, children have developed key skills in areas such as football and tag rugby, focusing on fundamental movement skills, while also exploring the components of fitness through gymnastics. In particular, pupils have loved showcasing their creativity and control in gymnastics, demonstrating excellent extension, tension and flow, alongside impressive agility and coordination in team games.
This term, attention has turned to athletics, with lessons taking place on the cricket pitch. Pupils have embraced the challenge of refining their techniques and learning how top athletes perform at the highest level. There is already great excitement building for the 2026 Olympics. Sprinting and javelin have been standout events, with children showing real determination to improve and beat their personal bests.
Follifoot Primary pupils have also been enthusiastic participants in the weekly Tuesday cluster competitions in Harrogate. Events have included cross country, football and Ro-icket, a fun combination of rounders and cricket. Across all competitions, pupils have represented the school with pride, demonstrating excellent teamwork and outstanding sportsmanship towards both teammates and other schools.
After school clubs have offered a wide variety of activities, from Ultimate Dodgeball to Tchoukball. Pupils have enjoyed learning new skills, understanding game tactics and developing their confidence week by week.
Well done to everyone at Follifoot Primary School on a brilliant year. We look forward to seeing what comes next.
