Remember the good old days, when a crash mat half an inch thick would stop you from breaking your neck as you fell off the climbing frame. The burn of the rope as you had managed to get to the top and your fear of heights meant you had no alternative but to release your grip and rope burn all the way back down... Well, Hookstone Chase CP School were at it in style and I must say there were no broken necks or rope burnt hands. The children were given the challenge of exploring the equipment that had been put out, how they could move on the equipment, what they could perform on the equipment and how they could develop themselves and each other on different pieces of apparatus. The reason behind this, as well as the thoroughly horrible weather, was to let the children develop their own skills, work things out for themselves and be proud of what they were able to put together, learn or teach to others. All in a fun and SAFE (emphasis on safe) environment. We are all about ensuring safety, but we are also big believers of the children being able to risk assess themselves.

In a secret bunker, in a secret town, in a secret city, on an island 100 miles from the nearest land, Sporting Influence held a meeting about their up and coming Summer Camp. Fortunately for all of you, the strong winds at Leeds Bradford airport on their return, blew a page from the meeting into the hands of an unsuspecting bystander. Unfortunately (for camp) Harrogate Ladies College have released the fantastic news that they are fully refurbishing their swimming pool. This means from Week 2 - Week 8 of the Summer Holidays there will be no pool available! However, we are now looking to wow you all bringing in new and exciting activities to replace swimming. If you have any ideas of things you would desperately like to see at camp please feel free to contact chrisdoey.sportinginfluence@gmail.com We will also be putting on more of the stuff that you love!

Sporting Influence ran a football tournament at Rossett High School on Wednesday morning. The weather conspired against us and unfortunately the tournament had to be moved inside. The three teams that attended, Bilton, Western & Rossett Acre, all played in fantastic spirit and ensured they showcased all their skill and talent in the correct manner. The childrens behaviour was exemplary, really focusing on our 5 social skills. Respect between each and every child, determination on the faces of everyone and fantastic communication between players. It was great to see so many children developing through and enjoying competition. Also, a big thank you to Rossett High School for allowing us use of their mini bus to collect Bilton and for making the tournament possible.
